Power and Influence

An extension to The Core programme

Leadership is an attempt to influence and Power is our influence potential

The one-day Power and Influence programme takes an in-depth look at both positional and personal power and describes the seven bases of power that support the Situational Leadership® model.

The power base(s) that is used by an individual is a critical part of their capacity to influence combined with their leadership style and the readiness level of the person they are trying to influence. This course explores the seven power bases in detail and offers participants specific strategies to:

  • Distinguish between positional and personal power and the implication of this differentiation.
  • Develop a deep appreciation of the seven power bases, including how they can be measured and positively utilised or developed.
  • Full understand the direct links between a person's power base, their style and the readiness levels of their followers.
  • Determine how and when to successfully use a particular power base, and when it is better avoided.
  • Calculate personal influence potential based on power perception results.
